The film released in 1980 written by Christopher Gore and directed by Alan Parker was a huge hit. The film is split into sections corresponding to auditions, freshman, sophomore, junior and senior years.

In 1982 to 1987 there was a spin off series to Fame the movie as it was so popular.

Based in New York City's High School for performing arts, an energetic, vibrant and multi-cultural group of young people gather to audition for a place at the school. They soon realise it takes more than dreams to succeed.

Mrs Sherman the English teacher tells the students that it will take "Hard Work", Mr Myers the Drama teacher tries to get the best out of the students emotionally all working together to achieve what they can out of the students.

"I Want to Make Magic", "There She Goes/ Fame", "Dancing on the Sidewalk" are some the fantastic songs from a moving story of individuals trying to make a difference and live their dreams.

This is a musical that has everything it's funny, energetic with fantastic choreography and a great story.
